Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has donated 39 vehicles to Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), various Islamic sects and Christian denominations.
The gesture aims to support their efforts in promoting peaceful coexistence and ensuring free and fair elections in Kaduna State and across Nigeria. The governor was represented at the event by the Director General of Interfaith, Malam Tahir Umar Tahir. He noted that some politicians anticipating electoral defeat are allegedly plotting to disrupt public peace before, during or after the upcoming elections.
Malam Tahir recalled that the First Aid Group of Fityanul Islam had requested six buses earlier to boost its peace-building work during its national seminar and award ceremony in August. The governor pledged four buses in response—two for the national body and two for the Kaduna State chapter.
He added that the support would also extend to First Aid Groups of other Islamic sects and the Boys Brigade of the Christian faith. The Kaduna State chapters of JNI and CAN were included, with each receiving Hummer buses. Other Islamic sects and groups within CAN were also allocated vehicles to assist their religious activities.
Malam Tahir assured that remaining Christian denominations and Islamic sects not covered in this distribution would be considered in future rounds. He emphasised that Governor Uba Sani has consistently engaged the various sects and blocks of the two major religions in Kaduna State since taking office more than three years ago.
