Efforts to heal internal rifts and fortify the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 general elections have intensified after a high-level meeting of top party figures.
The talks, spearheaded by former Oyo State First Lady and Nigeria’s Ambassador to Austria, Mrs Florence Ajimobi, brought together key stakeholders including Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin, the Oyo State Coordinator of the APC Presidential Campaign Council; Senator Abdulfatai Buhari (Oyo North); former Minister of Power Chief Adebayo Adelabu; and Barrister Akeem Agbaje.
Discussions centred on resolving lingering disagreements, fostering inclusive leadership, and rebuilding party unity in preparation for the polls.
Sources close to the meeting said participants stressed the need to prioritise the collective interest of the APC over personal differences and competing ambitions. Greater cohesion among leaders and stakeholders, they agreed, would reinforce the party’s structures and boost its electoral chances in the state. The group also underscored the value of continuous consultations with critical stakeholders and ensuring that various tendencies within the party are accommodated in decision-making.
A key point raised was the urgency of moving beyond mere calls for reconciliation to tangible steps that rebuild trust, address grievances, and promote genuine cooperation among members. With the 2027 elections drawing closer, the engagement is viewed as part of broader efforts by influential APC figures to align interests and prevent unresolved disputes from undermining the party’s preparations.
Participants further emphasised the need for a shared political strategy that carries all stakeholders along and strengthens the APC’s prospects across Oyo State.
