The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council (ADC-PCC) has insisted it will press ahead with its 2027 election campaigns, declaring that the ongoing leadership dispute will neither derail its mobilisation efforts nor distract it from its core mission.
This position follows the filing of an appeal against a Federal High Court judgment delivered on November 5 concerning the party’s leadership. In a statement issued on Friday by Phrank Shaibu, Director of Strategic Communication for the ADC-PCC, the council said it had also applied for a stay of execution of the judgment in the case involving Hon. Nafiu Bala Gombe and the ADC.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was formally notified of both the appeal and the stay application on November 6. The ADC-PCC urged the electoral body to exercise restraint and avoid any consequential action on the party’s leadership while the legal challenge remains pending.
Shaibu called on party members, supporters and the wider public not to lose faith in the ADC or its political project. “To our members, supporters and Nigerians who believe in democracy: remain calm, steadfast and confident. This is not the end of the road. The ADC is taking every lawful step to defend its rights, and we will not be intimidated or distracted from that responsibility,” he said. The campaign council stressed that the leadership crisis would not interrupt its political activities or its engagement with Nigerians.
“Our campaigns continue without interruption. There is no stopping the affordability train or our mission to make life better for Nigerians. We will keep taking our message to the people as we pursue every lawful avenue to defend our rights,” Shaibu stated.
The ADC-PCC expressed confidence that the dispute would receive a full and fair hearing and reaffirmed its commitment to exhausting all legal avenues to protect its interests.
