The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has pledged that the All Progressives Congress (APC), under the Rainbow Coalition, will secure decisive victories for President Bola Tinubu in both Rivers State and the FCT during the 2027 general elections.
Speaking in Port Harcourt while addressing the Rainbow Coalition Youths, Wike insisted that opposition threats would not derail Tinubu’s re-election bid.
He argued that the administration’s infrastructure projects and policy interventions had strengthened its appeal among Nigerians, stressing that leaders should be judged by their performance rather than campaign rhetoric.
Wike highlighted the coalition’s role in sustaining development, citing roads and bridges as evidence of Tinubu’s commitment to grassroots progress.
He noted that Rivers State already has 49 indigenes in prominent federal positions, underscoring the benefits of aligning with the Federal Government.
Criticising opposition figures such as Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, Wike described them as “political gamblers” and dismissed Obi as a “fake man.” He urged voters to focus on tangible results rather than empty promises.
The minister also emphasised youth participation, directing that young people be adequately represented in committees organising presidential rallies and campaign activities.
APC governorship candidate Kingsley Chinda echoed Wike’s stance, promising a youth-friendly government with compulsory bursary payments and expanded technical education.
He assured the coalition’s supporters that their contributions would not be forgotten, pledging reforms to empower young people and strengthen grassroots mobilisation.
Coalition leaders, including Chima Aguma and Justice Uranta of the National Union of Rivers State Students, vowed to mobilise massive support across Rivers State and beyond, declaring their unconditional backing for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
