Abdulaziz Yari, director-general of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council, has assured President Bola Tinubu of 100 percent support from the north in the 2027 election.
Yari spoke on Saturday at the APC presidential campaign
flag-off in Kaduna, where he said the party would campaign on the
administration’s records.
“Northern Nigeria is 100% yours, insha Allah. This is the
promise that we make, and you are going to see it in January 2027,” he said.
Yari said the campaign council has been engaging traditional
rulers, Islamic scholars and imams to highlight the importance of Tinubu’s
re-election.
He said the campaign would focus on the administration’s
record in infrastructure, health, education, human capital development and
social welfare.
The APC chieftain also dismissed allegations that the Tinubu
administration neglected farmers, claiming that about two million farmers have
committed to voting for the president.
“They are lying that the government of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu
does not like farmers, that you hate farmers. That is not true,” he said.
Yari accused critics of using artificial intelligence (AI)
to spread false claims about the administration.
The former governor also cited the exchange rate, foreign
reserves and trade balance as indicators of economic progress under Tinubu.
He said the exchange rate has moved from a level approaching
N1,800 to about N1,300, while Nigeria’s reserves have risen from $3.9 billion
to between $54 billion and $57.7 billion.
Yari further claimed that the country’s trade balance has
increased from about N44 billion in 2023 to N7.5 trillion.
He said the APC campaign council would work with governors
across the country to secure victory for Tinubu in 2027.
“The governors, your commanders in the states, are doing a
remarkable job. We are going to complement them, and by God’s grace, the
victory is ours,” he said.
