No leader has supported subnational like Tinubu, North will repay him with votes - Uba Sani

Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna, says no leader in Nigeria’s history has supported subnational governments as much as President Bola Tinubu.

Speaking on Saturday at the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign flag-off in Kaduna, Sani said northern Nigeria will repay Tinubu for his administration’s interventions in infrastructure, agriculture, education and security by re-electing him in the 2027 elections.

“No leader in the history of Nigeria has supported subnational governments as you have done, Mr president,” the governor said.

He urged voters to support continuity, describing Tinubu as a promise-keeper whose administration has renewed hope among Nigerians.

Sani said Tinubu promised to reconstruct the 123-kilometre Kaduna–Birnin Gwari road and address insecurity along the corridor, adding that the president has released billions for the ongoing road project, and that security has significantly improved in the area.

The governor said more than 300 schools and over 150 primary healthcare centres closed because of insecurity before he assumed office have reopened.

He cited the ongoing Zaria–Funtua–Gusau–Birnin Gwari road project and the proposed Kaduna metropolitan rail project as evidence of federal government support for the state.

On education and skills development, Sani said the north-west benefited from N84 billion under the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which supported about 414,000 students, and that thousands in the region have benefited from skills development programmes.

The governor took a swipe at opposition candidates, challenging them to present verifiable records of their achievements, and added that voters should judge candidates by performance rather than regional identity.

He warned APC supporters to remain vigilant against what he described as opposition campaigns relying on artificial intelligence-generated content.

Sani assured Tinubu that the north would demonstrate appreciation at the polls, citing the crowd’s reception of the president in Kaduna as evidence of support.
