Former Osun State lawmaker and APC chieftain, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has urged Nigerians to encourage President Bola Tinubu rather than persistently criticise him over the country’s economic challenges.
In a statement issued in Osogbo on Sunday, Oyintiloye argued that Tinubu inherited a battered economy and has been working tirelessly to stabilise it through reforms such as fuel subsidy removal and the floating of the naira.
He acknowledged that the policies have been tough on citizens but insisted they are necessary and already yielding positive results.
“What the President needs at this point is our encouragement, not harsh criticism or name-calling,” he said.
Oyintiloye cautioned opposition figures against weaponising economic hardship in their campaigns ahead of the 2027 elections, stressing that none of the candidates seeking to replace Tinubu had demonstrated superior capacity in past political roles.
He called on Tinubu to strengthen social intervention programmes and review economic policies to ease the burden on vulnerable Nigerians.
Expressing optimism, Oyintiloye predicted that Tinubu would secure a landslide victory in 2027, citing his achievements across various sectors.
