Phrank Shaibu, Director of Strategic Communication for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Campaign Council, has accused President Bola Tinubu of being disconnected from the economic hardship confronting Nigerians.
Speaking in an interview with ARISE News, Shaibu criticised Tinubu for blaming opposition parties for hunger despite being in office for more than three years.
“He has lost touch with reality. Bola is not aware of his environment. He is not aware of what Nigerians are going through. He’s not even aware that he’s president,” Shaibu said.
He described the president’s remarks as delusional, insisting that Tinubu should take responsibility for the economic crisis under his administration.
Shaibu pointed to the removal of petrol subsidy as a major driver of inflation, saying it triggered sharp increases in the cost of goods and services.
“The Nigerians cannot afford three square meals today,” he added, noting that rising university fees have forced some students out of school despite the creation of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).
Shaibu further criticised Tinubu for continuing to blame the opposition, reminding Nigerians that the APC had governed for eight years under Muhammadu Buhari before Tinubu assumed office in 2023.
He argued that the president should be held accountable for his policies rather than attributing hardship to political opponents.
