Supporters of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) staged a peaceful protest at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Kano on Friday, demanding the inclusion of their governorship candidate, Aminu Gwarzo, and his running mate, Mustapha Rabiu, in the final list for the 2027 election.
The protesters accused INEC of omitting the names despite the party fulfilling all nomination requirements.
NDC leaders insisted the omission was due to a technical error on INEC’s part and urged the commission to urgently correct the anomaly.
Party officials reassured members that consultations with INEC were ongoing. “The problem is not from us.
INEC told us it was a computer glitch and promised to rectify it,” said Yusif Fasaha, the party’s Public Relations Officer in Kano.
The protest highlights growing tension ahead of the polls, with NDC supporters calling on authorities to ensure fairness and transparency in the electoral process.
