The Deputy Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State for the 2027 election, Hajia ’Yemi Sowunmi-Kolapo, and the wife of the party’s governorship candidate, Chief Adenike Adebutu, have given a total cash gift of N1 million to recently retired Deputy Superintendent of Traffic, Anifat Bello.
The presentation took place on Sunday at a reception and dinner organised by Sowunmi-Kolapo for the retired officer at Obantoko, Abeokuta.
Sowunmi-Kolapo praised Bello, popularly known as Aunty Anifat, for her professionalism, discipline, resilience and dedication to traffic management during her years of service with the Ogun State Police Command.
She described the officer’s “infectious commitment to duty” as rare and worthy of emulation. While presenting a N500,000 cheque, the deputy governorship candidate said:
“You are a role model for younger Nigerians. I want to commend you for your professionalism. Gold or silver, I do not have. But please accept this as a token of appreciation for your infectious commitment to duty. It is the beginning of greater things to come for you.”
She also assured workers in Ogun State of improved welfare packages if Oladipupo Adebutu is elected governor in 2027, declaring that “hard work will pay.”
Adenike Adebutu added another N500,000 and said the retired officer would be part of an Adebutu administration if the PDP wins power.
“I want to congratulate you. I see you all the time while performing your traffic duty, ever smiling. One day, I was passing, and I asked myself, how does this woman manage to smile always? You will be part of Adebutu’s government,” she said.
Mrs Adebutu thanked Sowunmi-Kolapo for organising the reception and expressed appreciation for Bello’s selfless service to Ogun State.
