Abia State Governor Alex Otti has approved the formation of the Labour Party’s 2027 Governorship Campaign Council, structured to cover the three senatorial zones and state constituencies.
The announcement was made in a statement on Friday by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma.
Otti will serve as chairman of the council, with Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Emetu as vice-chairman.
Agwu U. Agwu was named Director-General, while Dr Eric Egwuibe will handle Finance. Dr Chibuzor Obiesili was appointed Director of Strategy and Planning, Kelechi Nwaiwu, SAN, will lead the Legal Directorate, Onyebuchi Ememanka takes charge of Publicity, and Dr Christian Anokwuru will oversee Special Duties.
Retired AIG Arungwa Nwazue will head the Security Directorate.Zonal coordinators were also named: Professor Udochukwu Ogbonna for Abia Central, Chief Emeka Charles Kalu for Abia North, and Chimaobi Ebisike for Abia South.
The council further appointed coordinators for individual state constituencies. These include Innocent Eleogu (Ikwuano), Dr Obioma Orji (Isiala Ngwa North), Hon. Dannie Ubani (Isiala Ngwa South), Emmanuel Maduforo Ufomba (Osisioma North), and Innocent Enyinnaya Anyanwu (Osisioma South).
For Umuahia, the coordinators are Col. Emeka Chilaka (retd.) for Umuahia Central, Chief Okey Onyemuwa for Umuahia East, Dr Aham Uko for Umuahia North, and Jerry Uzosike for Umuahia South.
In Bende, Ikerionwu Okarimie will handle Bende South and Silas Eke Bende North.Other appointments include Emmanuel Okoronkwo (Isuikwuato), Mandela Obasi (Ohafia North), Kalu Ukwu Uduma (Ohafia South), Kingsley C. Uchechukwu (Umunneochi), Chief Shaka Dimgba Obasi (Aba Central), George Ezeikpe Okeiyi (Aba North), Chidi Onyendi (Aba South), Ndubisi Obioha Christopher (Obingwa East), Jap Nnamdi Onwunali (Obingwa West), Dr Temple Nwosu (Ugwunagbo), Paul Taribo (Ukwa East), Ralph Egbu (Ukwa West), and Chief Okezie Azuma (Arochukwu).
The structure is designed to connect state leadership with the senatorial zones and constituencies for coordinated campaign activities.
The council’s inauguration is scheduled for Monday, October 5, 2026, at 12 noon at the Michael Okpara Auditorium in Umuahia. All members have been directed to be seated before the governor’s arrival.
