The Kwankwasiyya Movement has called on the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) to pursue legal action following the omission of its Kano State governorship candidate, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, and his running mate, Mustapha Rabi’u Kwankwaso, from the list released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In a statement issued by spokesperson Dr. Habibu Saleh Mohammed, the movement advised the party to submit all required documents to INEC and explore legal remedies within the timeframe provided by law.
It urged members and supporters to remain calm while the matter is addressed through due process.
The group noted that Gwarzo had registered with the NDC within the stipulated period and said it was unaware of any court order that could justify the omission. It demanded that INEC clarify the circumstances surrounding the development.
Citing Section 32(2) of the Electoral Act 2026, the movement highlighted that parties have 14 days to notify INEC in writing, accompanied by an affidavit, if a candidate’s name is missing from the published list.
“We urge the NDC to ensure that all necessary documents, including evidence of timely party registration, candidate nomination, submission of particulars and relevant acknowledgements, are assembled and presented to INEC alongside any required affidavit,” the statement read.
The movement emphasized that if records confirm compliance, INEC must transparently address the issue, stressing that confidence rests on due process and lawful remedies.
It also urged supporters to avoid confrontation and the spread of unverified information, assuring them that updates would be shared as developments unfold.
