Kano Hosts Saudi-Backed Medical Outreach

The Kano State Government has completed a Saudi-supported medical outreach at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, where 52 patients received free urological surgeries over six days.

A team of specialist doctors from Saudi Arabia, working under the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, carried out the procedures.

The outreach targeted vulnerable residents who could not afford specialised surgical care.At the closing ceremony on Friday, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf praised the Saudi government and the visiting medical team for their support.

He noted that this was the fourth surgical outreach by a Saudi team in Kano. In a similar programme in 2023, more than 2,300 free eye surgeries were performed in the state.

The governor also recalled the case of conjoined twins from Kano who were taken to Saudi Arabia in 2023 for specialised surgery. They spent two years receiving care there before returning home.

Yusuf said the state government would continue to strengthen its healthcare partnership with Saudi Arabia. He added that arrangements are underway to begin open-heart surgeries in Kano.
