The Kaduna State Government has dismissed as a deliberate forgery a letter circulating on social media that claimed Governor Uba Sani approved and released N2.3 trillion for the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 presidential campaign flag-off rally in the state.
In a statement issued on Saturday, October 24, 2026, by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, the government described the purported document as fraudulent, misleading, and a calculated attempt to damage the governor’s reputation for fiscal prudence and responsible governance.
The letter, dated October 18, 2026, and titled “Notification for Preparations for the Grand Rally Flag Off,” was allegedly addressed by Governor Sani to Senator Abdulazeez Yari, identified as Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council.
It falsely claimed that the state government had budgeted and released N2.3 trillion for the rally scheduled for that Saturday.
Maiyaki noted that Kaduna State’s entire 2026 budget stands at N985.92 billion, making the alleged expenditure more than twice the state’s annual budget.
He described the claim as financially implausible and unsupported by any authentic appropriation, approval, or expenditure records.
The commissioner highlighted glaring irregularities in the document, including the misspelling of the governor’s surname as “Uba Sai” and the apparent unauthorised reproduction of his signature, which further undermined its credibility.
“The Kaduna State Government categorically disowns this document. Governor Uba Sani neither authored nor authorised the purported letter, and no N2.3 trillion was budgeted, approved or released for the presidential campaign flag-off.
The allegation is entirely fictitious and represents a deliberate attempt to mislead the public,” Maiyaki stated.
He emphasised that since assuming office on May 29, 2023, Governor Sani has prioritised fiscal discipline, transparency, accountability, and judicious management of public resources, with investments focused on security, infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, and social protection.
Maiyaki expressed concern over what he called an emerging pattern of coordinated misinformation aimed at discrediting the governor and his administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He warned that fabricating official correspondence and circulating false financial claims constitutes a criminal offence punishable by law.
The commissioner said steps were being taken to establish the origin of the letter and called on security and investigative agencies to examine it and prosecute anyone found culpable of forgery or impersonation.
He urged the public and media organisations to verify documents carefully before circulating or publishing claims about public expenditure.
Maiyaki reaffirmed that the administration remains focused on consolidating peace, strengthening institutions, accelerating infrastructure development, and improving citizens’ welfare, stressing that it would not be distracted from its commitment to prudent financial management and transparent governance.
