Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has challenged Nigerians to vote for the African Democratic Congress, ADC, vice-presidential candidate, Rotimi Amaechi if he can establish that the Justice Karibi-Whyte Hospital project was executed during his tenure as governor of Rivers State.
Wike alleged that the Amaechi administration withdrew about
$39 million, approximately N54 billion from the Rivers State Government’s
coffers for the hospital project, which he claimed was never executed.
The minister, a former governor of Rivers State, made the
allegations on Tuesday during his monthly media chat in Abuja.
According to Wike, it’s not just that the project was not
completed, there was no foundation for it despite the huge sum allegedly
earmarked for it.
“If there was a foundation at all but the project was not
completed, vote for him,” he said.
Wike also accused Amaechi of allegedly diverting about $10
million under the pretext of fumigating Rivers State to eradicate mosquitoes.
The minister further criticised the media for what he
described as bias, questioning why journalists had not confronted Amaechi with
the allegations.
He challenged the media to demand answers from the former
Rivers State governor over the alleged financial transactions and the execution
of the projects.
