The faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by its National Chairman, Nafiu Gombe, has inaugurated its North-West Campaign Council as part of efforts to strengthen the party's structure and boost mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The council was unveiled following a meeting of the party’s North-West Zonal Caucus with governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly candidates, alongside other stakeholders, in Sokoto State on Friday.
According to a statement issued by the Director of Media and Publicity and spokesperson for the 2027 ADC Presidential Campaign Council, Dr Christopher Okechukwu, Alhaji Nuradeen Lawal Chindo was appointed chairman of the council, while Dr Bello Shehu will serve as secretary.
The meeting, held at Giginya Hotel in Sokoto, focused on aligning party positions and developing a unified strategy for the elections. Okechukwu said the gathering was aimed at creating a sustainable political roadmap capable of positioning the party for victory in 2027.
He explained that the newly inaugurated North-West Campaign Council would coordinate and oversee ADC campaign activities across the seven states in the region, providing leadership and strategic direction for the party’s electoral efforts.
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by the Deputy Director-General (North) of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, Hon. Bala Sani Kumo, while the Director of Legal and Litigation, Chief Cletus Okoye (SAN), administered the oath of office to members of the council.
Speaking at the event, Kumo urged the council to adopt an inclusive approach by ensuring the active participation of youths, women and persons with disabilities in campaign activities and political engagements throughout the North-West.
The ADC reiterated its commitment to running an issue-based and people-centred campaign focused on promoting good governance, peace and sustainable development as preparations for the 2027 elections continue
