Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has declared that he will defeat Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan in the 2027 Kogi Central senatorial election.
Bello, who is running on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform, will face the incumbent senator of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in what is expected to be a high-stakes contest.
The two politicians have a history of strained relations, including mutual accusations involving political violence, defamation, and court cases.
In October 2022, Bello linked Akpoti-Uduaghan to the Ajaokuta massacre and the Kuje prison break, claims she strongly denied.
She stated she was in the United States at the time for pregnancy-related reasons and childbirth. In response, Akpoti-Uduaghan in November 2022 described Bello as a “murderer, serial killer, and a terror to the people of Kogi State.”
Speaking on TVC’s Sunday Politics, Bello expressed strong confidence in his electoral prospects.“16 January 2027 is around the corner, the result will speak for itself,” he said.
“Let the day come and go, the day will bring massive votes, a decisive victory for Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, and for APC.”
