The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial candidate for Ogun East, Abdul-Hameed Omotayo, popularly known as OmoOwo, has declared his confidence in defeating Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at the inaugural press parley of his campaign organisation in Ijebu-Ode, Omotayo boldly stated:
“By 12 noon on January 16, 2027, I will have defeated Dapo Abiodun. Ogun East deserves effective representation, and I am ready to provide it.”
According to his media office, Omotayo argued that the people of Ogun East had endured years of unfulfilled promises and deserved purposeful representation that delivers tangible results.
He pledged to leverage his three decades of experience in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector to attract federal interventions, improve healthcare, strengthen education, and create employment opportunities for youths.
Omotayo outlined his priorities, including:
Expanding access to the National Health Insurance Authority and improving primary healthcare facilities.
Advocating better funding for public schools, welfare for teachers, and technology infrastructure in education.
Supporting small businesses, artisans, and local markets as the backbone of the district’s economy.Using industry connections to link young people with skills training and jobs in oil, gas, and related industries.
He emphasized the critical role of a senator in lawmaking, oversight, and ensuring Ogun East communities, from Ijebu-Ode to Remo and Ogun Waterside are represented in national decisions.
The event was attended by PDP stakeholders and campaign officials, with the party reaffirming Omotayo as its candidate for Ogun East.
He urged residents to judge his ambition by his priorities and commitment to delivering results, promising: “I understand your problems. I know how to do this job. And when you call me, I will answer.”
