A United States District Court has officially accepted new evidentiary submissions in the ongoing case linked to Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu, according to U.S.-based political advisory and lobbying firm Von Batten-Montague-York.
In a statement posted on its verified X handle, the firm announced that its Motion for Leave to File Brief Amicus Curiae and Supplemental Notice of Evidentiary Exhibits have been docketed by the U.S.
District Court for the District of Columbia. The firm stressed that the filings are now part of the court record in Greenspan v. Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys et al., Case No. 1:23-cv-01816-BAH, regardless of whether President Tinubu opposes them.
“You cannot demand privacy in a U.S. federal court while publicly litigating the same controversy and attacking those advocating for disclosure,” the firm stated.
Von Batten-Montague-York described the development as a “major victory” for both Americans and Nigerians, arguing that the submissions highlight contradictions between Tinubu’s legal efforts to secure privacy and public statements made by Nigerian officials about the case.
The firm added that the court now has before it evidence concerning public remarks by Tinubu’s associates and relatives, as well as alleged mischaracterisations of facts surrounding the controversy.
