Popular Nigerian activist and 2027 presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore on Thursday joined a protest in New York City calling for an end to the war in Gaza.
Sowore announced his participation in a post on his official X handle on Friday. He condemned what he described as human rights abuses linked to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu amid a worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
“Yes, today in New York, I joined the Free Palestine protest. No justice, no peace! #FreePalestine!“I condemn the genocide being committed by the state of Israel in Gaza.
“I joined to make it clear that Nigerians stand for justice and human rights for Palestinians,” Sowore wrote.Multiple protests against Netanyahu took place in New York on Thursday as the Israeli leader addressed the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81).
Reports indicate that more than 100 people were arrested as thousands of demonstrators demanded accountability over Israel’s military operations in Gaza and an end to United States military support for Israel.
