Tinubu: Nigerians Free to Criticise Me Without Fear

President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that they can criticise or verbally attack him without facing repercussions, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to tolerance and press freedom.

Speaking through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, at the 100th anniversary celebration of Daily Times of Nigeria Limited in Abuja, Tinubu said his government welcomes dissent as part of its Renewed Hope Agenda.

“Under this government, you can insult and attack the President and still go to bed without midnight troubles. This philosophy lies at the heart of the Renewed Hope Agenda,” he stated.

Tinubu explained that national renewal requires courage, honesty, and the ability to confront difficult choices, stressing that freedom of expression is central to Nigeria’s democratic journey.

His remarks highlight the administration’s stance on press freedom and its effort to foster a climate where citizens can openly express their views without intimidation.
