Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, arrived at Chinua Achebe International Airport in Umueri, Anambra State, on Thursday for an official visit.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo and his wife, Dr Nonye Soludo, led a high-level reception team that greeted her and her delegation on the tarmac shortly after the aircraft landed.
The group exchanged pleasantries before continuing with formal protocol.Other senior state officials joined the welcoming party to mark the First Lady’s visit.
Her programme in Anambra centres on the launch of the National Community Food Bank Programme for the South-East Zone and the commissioning of an ICT centre at Federal Polytechnic, Oko.
Dr Samuel Obasi, Director of the South-East Zone of the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, described the food bank as an initiative of Senator Tinubu aimed at tackling malnutrition among children and women.
The programme is being implemented in partnership with the agency and other collaborators across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones.According to Obasi, the Anambra facility will open at Amawbia Primary Health Centre.
It will primarily serve Anambra Central Senatorial District while supporting centres in the South and North zones, targeting those identified with moderate or severe acute malnutrition.
