Remi Tinubu Honoured With Chieftaincy Title in Imo State

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has been conferred with the traditional title of Oso Di Eme I of Imo State.

The honour was announced on Wednesday by her Senior Special Adviser on Media, Busola Kukoyi, who shared photographs of the ceremony on her X handle.

Kukoyi explained that the title translates to “She who supports her husband,” highlighting the First Lady’s role in complementing President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

“A worthy partner of her husband, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. As he’s working, she is working,” Kukoyi wrote.

Images from the ceremony showed Mrs. Tinubu dressed in vibrant traditional attire adorned with APC party symbols and Nigerian flag motifs.

She wore a striking red headwrap and coral beads, holding a ceremonial fan inscribed with OSO DI EME and a white horsetail flywhisk.

The conferment took place during her visit to Imo State, where she was warmly received by traditional rulers.

It follows a similar honour in June 2026, when she was named Ugosimba I of Enugu, meaning “Jewel of Empowerment,” in recognition of her efforts to promote women’s empowerment and social development across Nigeria.
