APC Chieftain Urges Wike to Focus on Governance, Workers’ WelfareYakubu Sani, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and founder of the Arewa Mandate Alliance, has called on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to prioritize governance and the welfare of workers rather than engaging in political attacks.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Sani urged Wike to concentrate on delivering the mandate entrusted to him by President Bola Tinubu, stressing that the minister should broaden his focus beyond roads and bridges to include the welfare of teachers, healthcare workers, civil servants, and address challenges such as water supply, traffic discipline, and waste management in Abuja.
He advised Wike to emulate Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, who he said has quietly focused on governance and project delivery without resorting to political confrontations.
“Every road and bridge commissioned in Abuja should be an opportunity to talk about development, not an occasion to abuse or denigrate perceived obstacles to his political ambition,” Sani stated, warning that Wike’s confrontational rhetoric could distract from the infrastructure projects being executed under the Tinubu administration.
Sani emphasized that effective governance should be Wike’s priority, noting that the welfare of teachers, healthcare workers, and civil servants is just as important as infrastructure.
He added that Wike’s political standing would be strengthened by demonstrating commitment to governance rather than confrontation.
The remarks come amid ongoing tensions between Wike and some APC governors over his Rainbow Coalition in Rivers State, which he insists supports President Tinubu’s re-election bid but does not obligate him to back APC candidates in other elections.
