The Katsina State Police Command has successfully repelled a bandit attack in Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area, rescuing four kidnapped victims and recovering an AK-47 rifle with live ammunition.
According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, armed bandits stormed Makwanta village in the early hours of Wednesday, abducting three women and a nursing baby.
A distress call was received at the Dutsin-Ma Divisional Headquarters around 12:22 am, prompting the Divisional Police Officer to mobilize a tactical team.
The operatives intercepted the bandits along the Dutsin-Ma–Danmusa border and engaged them in a fierce gun battle.
Overpowered, the criminals fled into the bush with suspected gunshot wounds.The rescued victims were identified as 14-year-old Marawiya Musa, 50-year-old Mariya Ibrahim, 21-year-old Amina Ibrahim, and a nursing infant.
All were safely reunited with their families.Recovered items from the operation included an AK-47 rifle loaded with five rounds of ammunition, a Tecno mobile phone, three MP3 players, a knife, and wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar Fage, commended the officers for their “gallantry, tactical precision, and swift response,” reaffirming the command’s commitment to intensifying operations against banditry.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and provide timely intelligence to aid security efforts.
