Nigerians’ Welfare Not Tinubu’s Priority Ahead - SDP's Adebayo

Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of neglecting the welfare of Nigerians, citing worsening poverty, insecurity, unemployment, and power outages as evidence.

Speaking in Abuja on Wednesday, Adebayo argued that successive governments have failed to adopt people-centred policies, leaving citizens to suffer while leaders focus on personal gains.

“Why it is difficult to kill poverty and insecurity, blackouts, joblessness and all of that is that the welfare of the people is the last thing on the mind of the government,” he said.

He alleged that those in power view citizens as a nuisance, only considering them useful during elections.

“They just want to collect money from the oil, take it abroad and enjoy themselves. Maybe once in four years, they will consider us useful because we have fingers with which to thumbprint,” Adebayo added.

Calling on Nigerian youths to unite ahead of the 2027 presidential election, he urged them to “rescue Nigeria” from the current administration.

Adebayo is among the 17 presidential candidates cleared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to contest the January 16, 2027 election against President Tinubu.
