Peter Obi Lured into NDC, He’s Trapped – Kenneth Okonkwo

Kenneth Okonkwo, spokesman for African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, has claimed that Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) flag bearer Peter Obi was lured into the party and is now politically trapped.

Speaking in an interview on Channels Television, Okonkwo described Atiku as the leader of the opposition, noting that the former vice president had officially challenged President Bola Tinubu to a debate.

He argued that the NDC, which came into opposition through a court order in December 2025, is legally a political association rather than a party, and is currently appealing the judgment.

“The opposition came together to form a coalition, and they chose the ADC on July 2, 2026. All of us were there, including Peter Obi. Obi left for the NDC, where he has now entered a trap because they used the NDC to lure him away,” Okonkwo said.

He added that all opposition candidates had united behind Atiku Abubakar, reinforcing his position as the central figure in Nigeria’s opposition politics.
