The Commissioner of Police in Osun State, CP Ibrahim Zungura, has presented welfare cheques amounting to N13,531,081.10 to the families of police officers who died in the line of duty.
The presentation took place on Friday at the Osun State Police Command headquarters in Osogbo. It forms part of the welfare support approved by the Inspector-General of Police for the next of kin of fallen officers.
Receiving the bereaved families in his office, Zungura expressed condolences over their loss and acknowledged the courage and sacrifices of the deceased officers during their service.
He said the financial assistance was meant to support the families after the loss of their loved ones and urged them to use the funds prudently.“I urge you not to lose hope. The Nigeria Police Force remains a family that stands with its own, both in service and after service,” the CP stated.
Zungura encouraged the families to apply the support towards their immediate needs while continuing to take pride in the service rendered by the late officers.
He reaffirmed that the Force, under the leadership of Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu, remains committed to supporting the dependants of officers who died in active service.
“The IGP’s administration remains committed to the welfare of officers and their dependants. The presentation is a practical demonstration of that commitment,” he added.
The Osun CP further assured the families that the Command would continue to offer support where necessary, stressing that they remain part of the police family.
He prayed for strength and comfort for the bereaved and urged them to remain steadfast as they cope with their loss.
