Opposition Full of ‘Confused Confusionists’ – Wike’s Aide Olayinka

Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has dismissed Nigeria’s opposition as a group of “confused confusionists.”

Olayinka was responding to mutual accusations between supporters of rival opposition platforms ahead of the 2027 elections.

Supporters of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have claimed that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), is working to aid President Bola Tinubu’s re-election by splitting opposition votes.

In turn, NDC supporters have alleged that ADC presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar is aligned with Tinubu because of their long-standing personal friendship, and that Atiku’s refusal to step down for Obi is designed to divide the opposition and secure Tinubu’s victory.

In a post on X, Olayinka summarised the cross-accusations:“#ADC People: Peter Obi is working for President Tinubu. He wants to divide opposition votes so as to ensure President Tinubu’s reelection.“#NDC People: Atiku is working for President Tinubu.

In fact, both of them have been friends for many years. Atiku refused to step down for Peter Obi so as to divide opposition votes and ensure President Tinubu’s reelection.“#ME: Opposition of confused confusionists.”
