American rapper Nicki Minaj has followed Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi on X, shortly after amplifying his statement condemning killings and abductions in Niger State.
Checks by reporters revealed that Obi is the only 2027 presidential candidate currently followed by the rapper on the platform.
Minaj’s action came after she reposted Obi’s Wednesday statement, in which he described the violence in Niger as a “systematic devaluation of human life” and urged intelligence-driven measures against criminal networks behind the attacks.
Her repost sparked widespread reactions among Nigerians at home and abroad, with many praising her for drawing global attention to the country’s worsening security challenges and calls for justice.
Obi, in his message, emphasized the need for coordinated action to protect vulnerable communities and restore public confidence in government response to insecurity.
