NAF Jets Neutralise 18 Terrorists, Destroy Hideouts in Borno Raid

Nigerian Air Force aircraft operating under Operation Hadin Kai carried out a successful air interdiction mission early on September 11, 2026, destroying multiple terrorist structures and logistics hubs while neutralising approximately 18 fighters at Tumbunma Baba in the Tumbuns area of Borno State.

According to a post by counter-terrorism analyst Zagzola Makama on X, the strike began around 6:05 a.m.

It followed intelligence indicating a high-profile terrorist meeting on nearby islands. Confirmatory intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) missions conducted on September 9 had earlier mapped several structures and supply points in the enclave.

The aircraft locked onto the targets and engaged them with onboard munitions, resulting in the destruction of the identified buildings and logistics facilities.

The same strikes accounted for the roughly 18 terrorists believed to have been operating from the location.

Makama assessed the operation at an estimated 85 percent success rate and recommended follow-up air interdictions to consolidate the gains and further disrupt any remaining elements in the area.

He described the mission as part of ongoing military efforts to degrade terrorist networks, dismantle their logistics infrastructure, and deny them freedom of movement and coordination within the Tumbuns.
