Inter Miami captain Lionel Messi has reached an agreement in principle to purchase Spanish second-tier side CD Eldense.
According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Messi will take full ownership by acquiring 100 per cent of the club’s shares. CD Eldense currently competes in the Segunda División.
The takeover is expected to proceed without any third-party involvement once due diligence is finalised. Formal approval from Spain’s Higher Sports Council (CSD) is still required and is anticipated in the coming days.
The move further expands Messi’s growing business interests in Spanish football and comes as the Argentine star is widely expected to eventually return to live in Catalonia.
