Lawmaker Demands EFCC Probe of Cubana Chief Priest After Criticism of Ebonyi Gov

House of Representatives member Chinedu Ogah has urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate socialite and businessman Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, over recent comments criticising Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru.

Ogah, who represents the Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency in Ebonyi State, questioned the socialite’s credentials and livelihood in a video statement.

“Who is Cubana Chief Priest? What does he do for a living? Who gave him the audacity to speak against the Ebonyi State Governor? Is it about drinking?” he asked.

The lawmaker further alleged money laundering against Cubana Chief Priest and called for a probe into his financial dealings. He also accused the popular figure of joining efforts to undermine President Bola Tinubu’s development initiatives in the South-East.

In additional remarks reported elsewhere, Ogah claimed Cubana Chief Priest arranged for hoodlums to steal items from a stadium and take them to his house, described him as not yet 40 years old, and questioned why he failed to win a primary election in Imo State despite his claimed popularity.

The backlash stems from Cubana Chief Priest’s recent remarks in which he called on Governor Nwifuru to step down.

He questioned how the governor could spend nearly three years in office without commissioning major projects by President Tinubu or other state governors.

Cubana Chief Priest further claimed Ebonyi was the only South-East state yet to see significant development, alleging its leaders “were not wise enough” and remained stuck in the past.A video of the exchange has circulated online.
