The management of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, has expelled 42 students for involvement in examination malpractice, following investigations by the institution’s Examination Malpractice Committee.
A statement issued by the Principal Assistant Registrar, Academic Board Matters Division, Ibrahim Esin, confirmed that the disciplinary action was approved in line with the Polytechnic’s Students’ Handbook.
According to Esin, the offences violated the Matriculation Oath sworn by the students upon admission.
“The students were found guilty of the allegations after due investigation by the Examination Malpractice Committee,” he said.

Institute of Technology: 8 studentsInstitute of Information and Communication Technology: 4 students
Institute of Health Technology: 2 studentsInstitute of General Studies: 1 student
Centre for Continuing Education: 4 students
The affected students were enrolled in diverse programmes including Mechatronics Engineering, Civil Engineering, Journalism and Media Studies, Public Administration, Banking and Finance, Accountancy, and Medical Imaging Technology.
The institution directed the expelled students to return all Polytechnic property in their possession to their respective Heads of Department.
Esin emphasized that the decision effectively ends the students’ relationship with the Polytechnic, underscoring the institution’s zero-tolerance stance on academic misconduct.
