Ima Niboro, the veteran journalist, has been appointed one of the spokespersons of the President Bola Tinubu campaign council ahead of the 2027 general election.
Niboro, a former managing director and chief executive
officer of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), previously served as spokesperson
to former President Goodluck Jonathan.
He later headed NAN, where he oversaw the agency’s
nationwide news-gathering network and international operations.
His appointment comes as Tinubu’s campaign council
strengthens its communications team ahead of the 2027 election.
The communications team is led by Dele Alake, minister of
solid minerals development, with Mohammed Idris, minister of information and
national orientation, as co-chairman.
Other members include Bayo Onanuga, special adviser to the
president on information and strategy; Sunday Dare, special adviser to the
president and former minister of youth and sports development; Tunde Rahman,
senior special assistant to the president on media and special duties; and
Felix Morka, national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress
(APC).
The team comprises journalists, government communicators and
political strategists with experience across traditional and digital media.
Niboro’s appointment also adds a former presidential
spokesman with experience in managing national political messaging and complex
public issues to Tinubu’s campaign communications structure.
The team is expected to focus on communicating the Tinubu
administration’s reform programme and the next phase of the government’s
Renewed Hope Agenda.
