Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has directed the immediate arrest of suspects linked to the reported killing of his close associate, Olamilekan Ajagungbade, popularly known as Emir Ajagungbade.
Ajagungbade was shot dead on Sunday in Ife, Osun State, during an incident allegedly tied to a dispute over motor park leadership.
He was a known ally of Governor Adeleke and a member of the Accord Party.According to reports, the clash involved the chairman of Ife Mini-Bus, popularly called “SÃbÃ,” though details of the shooting remain unclear.
In a statement issued by Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor ordered the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Zungura, to arrest all those involved and restore peace across affected motor parks.
He also directed warring groups to vacate the parks immediately.“Law and order must be maintained. There will be no sacred cows as all culprits will be brought to book,” Adeleke said.
The governor further announced the reintroduction of the Park Management System to regulate motor parks and garages statewide, adding that he would soon issue an Executive Order to provide a legal framework for the arrangement.
Adeleke urged residents to remain calm, assuring that security agencies had been tasked with sustaining peace and order in the state.
