Nigeria’s Ambassador-designate to Mexico, Reno Omokri, has pointed to a 2003 United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) record as evidence that President Bola Tinubu was born on March 29, 1952, directly challenging claims that the president is 90 years old.
Omokri made the disclosure during an interview on the City Boy Movement’s media one-on-one podcast with Otega Ogra, Senior Special Assistant to President Tinubu on Digital and New Media.
He referenced a letter from the FBI, transmitted through the then US Embassy in Lagos, in response to an inquiry by the Nigerian government.
The correspondence was addressed to the Inspector-General of Police at the time, Tafa Balogun.According to Omokri, the document states:
“In relation to your letter dated February 3, 2003, regarding Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a record check of the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Crime Information Centre was conducted. The result of the check was negative for any criminal arrest records, wants or warrants for Bola Tinubu.”
Omokri emphasized that the same FBI record lists Tinubu’s date of birth as March 29, 1952. “This is just a complete vindication of Tinubu,” he said.
“But notice that the FBI records have the President’s date of birth, which is March 29, 1952. So, this document destroys anybody trying to say that the President is 90 years old.”
The comments come in response to recent statements by African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, who claimed to possess evidence that Tinubu is 90 years old and indicated he would present it in court.
Omokri, who described Atiku as a friend rather than a former principal, presented the FBI letter as conclusive proof against the age allegation.
