Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, has commended President Bola Tinubu for refusing to bow to pressure to make a hasty judgment during investigations into the alleged Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) scandal.
Speaking at the Gbaja Mega Empowerment Programme in Lagos on Saturday, Gbajabiamila recalled how the Nigerian Police, DSS, and ICPC all cleared him of any wrongdoing after months of scrutiny.
“The past few months have tested me in ways I never expected. Stories were written, strange accusations were made, lies were told, and my integrity was questioned. At the end of all the investigations, the Nigerian Police, the DSS, the ICPC cleared me of any wrongdoing,” he said.
He expressed gratitude to Tinubu for insisting on due process despite public pressure: “Many people wanted him to rush to judgment. He refused and insisted on due process.”
Gbajabiamila urged young Nigerians aspiring to public office not to be discouraged by the challenges of leadership, stressing that allegations and blackmail should not deter them from service.
He also warned individuals fraudulently using his name to deceive the public, promising that the law would catch up with them.
The empowerment programme, valued at ₦1.15 billion, benefited about 5,000 residents of Surulere.
Distribution included cash grants, vehicles, laptops, tricycles, minibuses, and electric cars, part of efforts to promote cleaner transportation and expand business opportunities.
Lagos Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, who attended the event, said the APC remained committed to grassroots engagement, describing the party as “the party of the people.”
