Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd.), has confirmed that security agencies are still probing the alleged coup plot to remove President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Musa disclosed that the Department of State Services (DSS) and the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) are leading the investigation, with suspects already charged and facing trial in court.
According to him, the plot was genuine, and investigators had verified the suspects’ intention to seize power. “It was real, and they actually wanted to do it for whatever reason,” Musa said, describing the individuals involved as “misguided.”
He explained that the DSS and NIA were taking their time to gather details before making further disclosures, stressing the importance of accuracy in such sensitive matters.
Political observers note that the Defence Minister’s remarks underscore the seriousness of the alleged plot and highlight ongoing efforts by Nigeria’s security agencies to safeguard democratic governance.
