Suspected bandits have killed seven residents and abducted 12 others during a violent raid on Tofa village in Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The attack, which occurred around 1 a.m. on Monday, lasted for several hours as the assailants fired shots and looted livestock. According to security sources, two women were among the dead, while the abducted victims included men and women from the community.
Those killed were identified as Malam Muhammadu, Danbakanike, Musa Dan Agaji, Masaudu Basiru, Buba Biti, Yar Kuluwa Basiru, and Jamila Umma.
The abducted residents were named as Shafiu Bello, Bilyaminu Abubakar, Saifullahi Buhari, Hauwau Zayyanu, Saratu Ibrahim, Safiyya Nasi, Zulaiha Aminu, Bilya Abu, Farida Lawali, Yar Kadan Aminu, and Kulu Amadu.
Ten captives were later released as the attackers retreated, while additional abductions were reported in nearby areas. Among them was a farmer, Sani Gayya, popularly known as Magatakarda Saburu, who was seized while working on his farm in Saburu village.
As of press time, neither the Sokoto State Government nor security agencies had issued an official statement regarding the incident.
