Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma (OPFY) have rescued 10 kidnapped victims in separate operations across Zamfara State, foiling two abduction attempts.
Media Information Officer for Sector 2, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, said the first incident occurred on September 27 in Maru Local Government Area, where terrorists abducted villagers at Kade Daba Village, Kanoma District.
Troops mobilised swiftly, engaged the attackers, and rescued four victims.In another operation the same day, troops conducting a picketing patrol along the Tsafe–Funtua road in Tsafe Local Government Area responded to sporadic gunfire near Kwanoni.
The terrorists fled after setting a Sharon vehicle ablaze in an attempted abduction. The occupants escaped before the fire consumed the vehicle, while six others from another vehicle were rescued after losing control during the attack.
The Theatre Commander of OPFY commended the troops for their vigilance and professionalism, reaffirming the task force’s commitment to sustained offensive operations against terrorists in the North-West.
He urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
