The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned proceedings in the case filed by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) against President Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Justice Inyang Ekwo postponed the matter until October 13, 2026, to hear a motion by the plaintiffs seeking to amend their originating summons.
Counsel for the plaintiffs, Joseph Silas, confirmed that all defendants had been served within the stipulated time and that responses had been filed.
He further informed the court of the application to amend the suit, which challenges Tinubu’s eligibility to contest the 2027 presidential election.
The case, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1888/2026, centres on alleged discrepancies in the name appearing on a National Youth Service Corps discharge certificate submitted to INEC compared to the President’s official records.
Earlier hearings had been delayed due to disputes over service of court processes.
Tinubu’s counsel, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), argued that the plaintiffs attempted to mislead the court regarding service on the President, while INEC has separately filed objections questioning the competence of the suit and the plaintiffs’ locus standi.
Justice Ekwo, after confirming that all parties had been notified of the amendment application, adjourned the matter for further hearing.
