The Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission has declared candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winners of all 17 chairmanship positions in the just-concluded local government elections.
The polls, held on September 26 across 178 electoral wards, featured candidates from 10 political parties.
Announcing the results in Damaturu, the commission’s chairman, Dr. Ibrahim Yabani, said the exercise was conducted peacefully, with votes counted and collated at ward and local government collation centres in line with electoral procedures.
Among those declared winners were Musa Dagona in Bade LGA with 54,312 votes, Lawan Bukar in Bursari with 24,331 votes, Bukar Adamu in Damaturu with 18,465 votes, Abdulmumin Usani in Fika with 61,326 votes, and Baba-Goni Bade in Fune with 74,411 votes.
Other APC candidates who emerged victorious include Mohammed Musa in Geidam, Dala Mala in Gujba, Dayyabu Ilu in Gulani, Umaru Aguya in Jakusko, Umara Mohammed in Karasuwa, Idriss Mai Bukar in Machina, Samaila Musa in Nangere, Mohammed Malami in Nguru, Salisu Muktari in Potiskum, Mohammed Musa in Tarmuwa, Zanna Zakaria in Yunusari, and Adam Jibrin in Yusufari.
Dr. Yabani emphasized that the commission’s role was to announce results declared at collation centres, reaffirming APC’s clean sweep of all chairmanship seats in the state.
