Human rights activist Aisha Yesufu has pledged to monitor the 2027 presidential election from polling units to the national collation centre, insisting that vote rigging will no longer be tolerated.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, Yesufu said lessons from the 2023 polls had strengthened her resolve to ensure transparency in the electoral process.
“We are going to follow the votes from polling units, to the ward collation centre, to LG, to the state, and all the way to Abuja. There is no time that any ballot paper, ballot box, result sheet, or individual will be out of our sight,” she declared.
Yesufu emphasized that activists and citizens would use every means necessary, whether bikes, boats, or even private jets to track ballot materials and results.
When asked about the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi’s chances against President Bola Tinubu, she dismissed Tinubu’s political strength, claiming his public bravado masked fear.
Her remarks underline growing civil society efforts to safeguard electoral integrity as Nigeria prepares for the 2027 general elections.
