Former Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will defeat opposition candidates Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Fayose argued that both Atiku and Obi lack the political structure to challenge Tinubu, even if they form an alliance.
He likened their chances to former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s failed third-term bid, noting that Nigeria’s political norms often override personal ambitions.
Fayose said: “Today when you go by the book, in what way will Obi and Atiku, even if they come together, this man, President Tinubu, will still defeat them. But let us say that they didn’t come together, too bad for them.”
He further claimed that Tinubu’s stronghold in the Southwest would deliver millions of votes, questioning the electoral strength of Atiku and Obi in states like Ekiti, Osun, and Ondo.
According to Fayose, the opposition lacks the grassroots machinery needed to mount a serious challenge, insisting that Tinubu’s political dominance remains intact ahead of 2027.
