The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has directed the immediate shutdown of the secretariat of the dissolved Ad-hoc Committee on Sales of Federal Government Houses in Abuja.
This was disclosed in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, on Wednesday.
According to the statement, Wike also approved the establishment of a new division within the Department of Land Administration to oversee matters relating to the sale of Federal Government houses in the FCT.
The division will assume responsibilities previously handled by the defunct committee.
The FCT Administration explained that the secretariat had been retained after the committee completed its assignments, mainly to address issues arising from its activities.
With its closure, members of the public are now advised to direct all housing-related inquiries to the Department of Land Administration.
The administration further cautioned residents against fraudsters posing as staff or members of the defunct committee, stressing that neither the committee nor its secretariat exists anymore.
