Operatives of the Kwara State Police Command have arrested Muhamodu Sanni, a suspected member of a kidnapping syndicate, while allegedly attempting to withdraw ransom money at a Point-of-Sale (POS) terminal in Ilorin East Local Government Area.
According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the arrest was the result of intelligence-led operations following the abduction of three persons during an armed invasion of Obudu Village on July 28, 2026.
Investigators expanded their probe beyond the crime scene, tracing the syndicate’s financial and communication channels, which eventually led to Sanni’s interception.
Ejire-Adeyemi explained that Sanni confessed to his role in ransom collection and named two other suspects, identified as Aminu and Umar, providing fresh leads for ongoing investigations.
She emphasized that the breakthrough reflects the proactive policing strategy of Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu, with Kwara Commissioner of Police Ojo Adekimi assuring residents of continued efforts to dismantle criminal networks and urging the public to share credible information.
