Rotimi Amaechi, the vice presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), on Monday hit back at Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), after the latter questioned his record in government.
The exchange took place during a panel session at the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) 2026 Annual General Conference. Sowore had suggested that Amaechi underperformed both as governor of Rivers State and later as a minister.
Amaechi responded by highlighting projects associated with his time in office. He asked whether the Lagos-Ibadan railway was operational, noting that it had functioned during his period of involvement, and similarly pointed to the Abuja-Kaduna rail line.
Turning to Rivers State, he urged lawyers from the state present to show Sowore the developments completed under his governorship.
In a sharp retort, Amaechi told Sowore: “Moreover, Sowore, when politicians are talking, close your mouth.”
