The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has come under fire following his visit to Koinonia Global Ministries in Abuja on Sunday.
Founded by Apostle Joshua Selman, the interdenominational worship centre hosted Obi as he urged Nigerians to pray for politicians, stressing that they remain the root of the country’s problems.
He specifically called on citizens to pray that leaders stop looting public funds.However, the move sparked backlash online, with critics accusing Obi of reviving his “church-to-church” campaign strategy reminiscent of the 2023 elections.

Others argued that playing the religious card is part of politics, noting that tribal and ethnic appeals are also common.
The criticism highlights ongoing debates about the role of religion in Nigerian politics as the 2027 elections draw closer.
