The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke as the gubernatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State for the 2027 elections.
Adegoke’s Form EC9, along with those of other candidates, was posted on the INEC website in the early hours of Saturday.
The display forms part of the commission’s timetable for the 2027 general elections.Governorship elections are scheduled for Saturday, 6 February 2027, in Oyo and 27 other states, while State Houses of Assembly elections will hold across all 36 states.
The publication of Adegoke’s name has effectively resolved the controversy over the authentic ADC governorship candidate in Oyo State. Adegoke, also known as Olooye Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke, emerged from the party’s primary election, which was supervised by INEC.
He polled 16,051 votes to defeat other aspirants, including Bisi Ilaka (11,415 votes), Gbemileke Alagbe (241 votes), Azeez Adeduntan (155 votes) and Niyi Aborisade (67 votes).In reaction, Adegoke’s media team urged all aggrieved aspirants and their supporters to accept the decision of the party and INEC.
“We, therefore, urge all other aspirants and their supporters to desist forthwith from any further misrepresentations and to respect the decision of the party and the position of INEC,” the statement said.
“We call on our members, supporters and the good people of Oyo State to remain calm, united and focused as we mobilise ahead of the elections.”
The team described Adegoke as a tested leader with the capacity, vision and experience to deliver good governance and rebuild Oyo State.
